Sorry, but I'm just looking at it as somebody who holds Norwich

very dear, is extremely proud of the place, and was chuffed to bits that I was recently able to show the place off to so many friends who visited my wedding. I glowed as our group of Dutch, Irish, Scottish, Belgian, Russian, American, Ukrainian, Welsh, Surinamese and French people wandered around on a mini-pub crawl from the Murderers to the Ribs Of Beef, constantly complimenting the atmosphere, charm and architecture of the city (we avoided PoW Rd and Riverside).

However, I can fully understand why living there isn't attractive, simply because of the isolation of it all.

Yeah, the roads are a bit better than 20 years ago, but I still hate having to drive into Norfolk and out of it again. It was easier driving from the Hague to Dubrovnik (well, apart from the last bit).

Also the local mentality is like an island within an island. I'm not criticising Norwich this way, as I see it all as part of its charm (as does the missus now she's used to it), but to people who are used to different mentality and lifestyles, it simply is not attractive.
