to get physically fit as he missed all the pre-season. Remember he is not a youngster anymore and is a player who relies on speed so has to be one of the fittest guys on the field.
Add to that the "match-fitness" where he needs to get used to the shape and tactics again, and playing him in the reserves is a very sensible move.
Even when he comes back in the team, we shouldn't expect too much for a few weeks and maybe we'll even see him substituted occasionally - he still needs to get match-sharpness and get used to all those new players he hasn't played with yet (Cureton, Dave, Brellier, Russell)
