Yeah, but the logical conclusion would be

that at some point there would be no clubs left as a viable financial investment, and the league would consolidate down to less than 50% of the professional teams we have now.

How many other countries have 92 professional clubs ?! I don't think any outside the UK have more than 40 or 50 ! (Could be wrong but you know my point). In fact, how many SPORTS in ANY country have 92 pro teams ?

Even the NFL in the US has only 32 in a country of 300 million
