I think PG is giving Doc and Shackell this year to prove themselves. He has given them the much needed support in front and behind, which was sadly lacking last year and now it is up to them to show they can cope with CCC strikers. Hence only giving the doc a years extension and shackell the armband to make him think more about the game. I think that this is also the reason why Grant has only been linked with Loan players, to add bodies to the back.

If we ship more than our fair share of goals this season then PG will act, maybe as early as Jan but more likely next summer as stage 2 of the rebuild.
