i used to work for an insurance company who underwrote travel insurance

basically, it is a really corrupt area, and if you have a genuine claim (and obviously you have) then you should get a cheque from your insurer. Who is your insurer by the way?

I would suggest that maybe the baggage handlers were a bit previous and you bag looked like it had gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson (back when he really was the Bad Boy).

But, insurance IS a scam, so I would not hold your breath............
