those 2 aren't going to score goals for us.
We did have a handful of opportunities in the box in the first half and with a bit of movement Brown and Dublin could have found some space and got a decent shot in - unfortunately they were playing statues at the time.
I think we forget that a creative midfield player or a winger thrives on looking for strikers who are making space for themselves and running into space and onto balls. Dublin hasn't got the legs for it and Brown looks incapable of it.
I understand the tactics used yesterday but I truely believe that with the solid defence we had yesterday and the midfield playing a good holding game a striker with a bit of pace and movement about them would have scored for us. Someone like Cureton - i can't wait for his first start.
Perhaps if Croft had of come on a bit earlier he'd have put a cross in from one of the boys up front to score from. He was clearly lacking in fitness or suffering the ill effects of the BBQ.
Based on 1 game and his quality display yesterday I feel Russel is going to be a much better player than Francis and Etuthu (the latter for sure).
I hope nobody thinks I'm getting at the team here. I thought Dion did a great job for us last season but it is clear from that display time is catching up with him rapidly. He should not be starting, bring him on with 10-15 minutes to go to steady the ship if needed. Brown is a squad player and I can't see him being much more, I'd like to be proved wrong by a bag full of Brown goals but as a previous post mentioned: he never looks like he is going to score.
We still need some defensive cover but I really like the look of the team and my hopes are higher now than they have been in ages. OTBC
