Fantastic result.
Especially considering the fact that most of the players have never played a competetive game together, a fair few were struggling with recovery from illness or a lack of games and we we were missing two of our top players and main goal threats in Hucks and Cureton.
Ok, we were pretty toothless in front of goal (see above) but we were much more solid at the back - I'm no fan of Doherty or Drury but thought they both did a good job - especially Drury who was getting much more stuck in than usual.
I hear that Canary call gave us our first 'Grant Outer', who has wanted him out since he first came. And he then chooses the first game of the season, after we have just got a point away at Preston and kept a clean sheet, to ring canary call and declare this fact. What a knob.
IMO Grant has done a great job so far. He has shipped out a lot of dead wood and brought in a large number of new players and I am struggling to see a bad buy that he has made so far - makes a change. The squad has more balance because he has brought in a number of players in various positions instead of blowing the whole budget on one expensive striker. You can't expect miracles with what is essentially a completely new team but I am pleased with what I have seen so far.
