For me, all our problems across the past two seasons can be linked to not having a midfield worthy of the name.

No wonder Gary Doherty is such a f**king wreck these days - he's had absolutely no support in front of him since Gary Holt left.

I know he's public enemy number one these days, but Doherty is still a competent defender - given a team in front of him.

Etuhu and Safri did my head in. In and out of the team, in and out of form, in and out of favour. Without wishing to throw bouquets south of the border, just compare those two flitty-farty fannies with, say Magilton and Holland at their best. Always playing, always committed, alway in charge.

This is what I expect from Brellier and Russell and this is what I expect from the whole team now. Grant may be disappointed to lose Etuhu but I certainly wasn't and as for Safri, the manner of his departure said all I need to know about him.
