I do somewhat disagree with the line of reasoning that money makes such a huge difference in this league. At the bottom? Yes. At the top? Well, last season did buck the trend a bit but relegated clubs have done notoriously badly at getting back before the parachute payments run out. NCFC being a prefect example of that.
So why is is? Well, I think class plays a much lesser part in the Championship than does good solid commitment from honest pro's who can turn out and turn up on a wet Tuesday evening in November at one of the less attractive venues. (Woe betide that I might suggest somewhere 'tup North)
To try and keep it short, I think Grant has taken that approach in signing people that can not only play a bit but are solid and honest players. A smattering of pace here and there and a class keeper to boot (not literally.)
Notwithstanding the hole that still exists in our central defence.
