A couple of recommendations

Nildram are very good and have great customer service.
Pipex are good also and now own Nildram so I don't know if they have been merged.

I'm with Eclipse who seem pretty good. I'm on their Flex Home 500 tariff which means I have standard, un-metered, 512kbps broadband but I can flex it up to 2mbps and pay a few pence per minute when at the higher speed.
