"I make no comment on how it came to be that Derby bid the exact amount necessary to activate Earnie's buy-out clause…"
Well presumably either Earnie or, more likely, his agent told them about the clause. After all the whole point of the deal with Earnshaw, with which Earnshaw and Norwich City FC were entirely happy, was that he would be sold for £3.5 million in the inevitable event that promotion was not achieved. What kind of numpty thinks that Derby should have bid one penny piece more?
"Indeed, it is interesting to note that only this week the BBC were reporting that Southampton are set to report Derby to the Football Association claiming "the Rams have broken League rules over an approach for striker Kenwyne Jones". "
What on earth is the point of this? Are we supposed to infer that Derby made an improper approach for Earnshaw? What a load of self-justifying horses**t!
This all smacks of the s**t that was directed at Ashton in the wake of his departure - when the truth of the matter was that Clancy's catastrophic management of the finances meant that we had no option but to sell. This time the catastrophic deal struck by Clancy with Earnshaw meant we had no option but to sell.
As I've been saying for a very long time now, it's time to get rid.
