My point being

We got shot of a perfectly decent right-back when it was pretty obvious the only other senior right-back at the club was going to flounce off in a huff. Now all our eggs at right-back are in the basket of an unknown quantity whose recent pedigree hardly inspires confidence.

Blunder? I reckon so.
