...think the signing of Beattie will take the pressure off him to produce which could well be to his advantage. The favourites for the league generally struggle to win it, which should count against Charlton but you fancy they will be up there fighting, a la Birmingham last season who only just missed out on top spot.

Hopefully we will be up there as well but this is more of a transition season so if we are battling for a play-off spot then i'll be more than happy after the last two years of dross.
