Disappointed in the booing of Ashton

Really don't get it myself.
Never had a bad word to say about us, considers (or probably considered now) us to be his second team, has come back to watch us a few times.
He was clearly at least a level above the rest of the side, playing a team quite clearly going nowhere so he took his chance to move up a level and try and get himself a trip to the world cup.
Had he not got injured training for England I firmly beleive he'd of travelled instead of Walcott and actually have got on!

His initial reception was mixed (which I expected) but as the game want on the booing seemed to get worse. Did something happen that I missed? Fair play to the lad for not celebrating his goal (reactions of his team mates gave me a chuckle though, talk about ott!)
