I don't think he'll leave-a major factor, as well as that of him and his family being settled here, is that he thinks he has only 1 year at the top of his game left-if he was the Hucks of 3,4 years ago, I certainly think he would consdier leaving.
Derby would make sense-Hucks used to be based in the Midlands, we know he enjoyed his spell at Forest (they are "his" team) and that he still has family in that area.
And I have to say, if Derby, or anyone, offered £2 Million for him, you'd have to consider it! After all, he'd be in the Prem for his 'swansong' season, so couldn't do much to help us and he'll always be a legend here, he knows that, even if he did leave.
Maybe he is looking back at the times when clubs did make an offer for him and, perhaps met the release clause in his contract and he didn't leave-and he is wondering if his loyalty and faith in the club isn't being met with some sort of reciprocal action?
Hence his clearly being pissed off-a case of I have stuck with you, I have been loyal, I have listened to your promises-and yet, this STILL happens! Maybe, he is thinking, we might have tried harder to convince Dickson, to convince Earnie to hang around, but that, as soon as the offers came in, we bent over and let the buying clubs tickle our submissive yellow feathers?
As I said at the start, I think he will stay. I fervently hope he will stay. But he is going to go into the season an angry man, thats for certain. Lets hope that, on the pitch, that transfers into his play and positively. He remains our talisman and perhaps Messrs.Doncaster and Munby need to be reminded of that and his status amongst the fans, rather than their ticking him off publicly as if he was some naughty apprentice.
And we end up reading "...Norwich City FC thank Darren for all he has done for the club and wish him all the best for the future..."
I hope not, for their sakes, people at the club ought to hope that as well.
