mainly kids education as it was costing me an arm and a leg (international school) and we really didn't feel that the standard was very good at all. There's lots to like about germany; clean, efficient, autobahns, sausages, beer, shops shut on sundays (I wish it were the case in the uk), people can drive properly, sports facilities are excellent, loads to do and on and on. Can be stifling though living there as the beauracracy is a pain in the arsche. I had brillers neighbours one of whom was an english teacher so that made things easier. I was working freelance over there whn I got out of the forces and to be honest I paid 180k Eur for a hooge f**k off 5 bed house with a full cellar and I probably could have got a flat in thetford for that money so it was a no brainererer. I was up north but preferred the south, used to holiday a lot in Garmish.
