Gallagher: 6, very little to do at all, did what he had to well
Drury: 7 ½, scored from an advanced central position, wont see him in that part of the pitch against better opposition. Looked solid and fit got up and down well.
Shacks: 8, didn’t shut up, was bossing the defence Dublin style. Commanding and solid looked very strong has filled out over the close season. Did his job and won a couple of headers from corners.
The Doc: 5, looked ok in the first half, looks pretty lean and fit won a few headers and was fairly ok. Second half Lynn brought on Defty to “rough” up the Norwich defence a bit and Doc showed what a liability he can be I am afraid. Two or three times towards the end he was beaten. Still need to have a partner for shacks with Doc as back up.
Cave Brown: 7 ½, looked very good, has grown up and will be a good back up player for the right back slot, admittedly the opposition were not great but they did have a go down the left and he had to do a job there which he did comfortably, also got up and down the flank well.
Croft: 5, I really like Croft and he had some good interchanges with Cureton and Dave Striker but on most occasions could not deliver the final ball into the box required. I don’t think he once beat his man to the by-line and got a good cross in. Doesn’t look much fitter than last season, but that’s only my opinion.
Fozzy: 9 my joint MOM, again I know it was only Lynn (who are no mugs actually) but Fozzy looks like a new signing. He didn’t stop running for the whole game, played box to box tackled well and linked up the play. He often put his foot on the ball lifted his head and started a new move.
The Judge: 7 ½ Quality, you can see the way he played if only for 45 minutes that he will take no prisoners, even though it was a friendly against lower league opposition after about 20 minutes he went through one of the Lynn players like it was the last minute of a cup final and he was defending a 1 nil lead against Chelsea! Apart from one stray pass everything he did was controlled. Obviously lacks a bit of fitness compared to some of the others, but this guy is going to be a big fans favourite.
Ryan Jarvis: 6 the lad is frustrating to watch, at times he showed just what he is about with pace and passing and movement and then at other times he doesn’t. Seemed to do better in the second half and admittedly was playing left wing which isn’t a natural position for him. I think he will go out on loan again this season and to be honest may not come back.
Cureton: 8 ½ you can see why he was top scorer last season, he is a complete pain in the arse for defenders, his off the ball running was superb. He found himself in numerous good positions and apart from being a bit rusty and being smothered by two or three Lynn defenders would have had a hatful. Also he will create more chances for other players than Earnie ever did. Welcome back JC this season is going to be interesting to watch.
Dave Striker: 9 joint MOM with Fozzy, Once this guy can communicate with the others more effectively he is going to be even better. Think, Ashton merged with Crouch (Please refrain from posting rumours etc!) he is a giant, not lanky, strong and opposing. Held the ball up well and as mentioned lacked a little communication particularly with JC. Made numerous good runs, got wide a few times and crossed the ball in high and low. Won a number of headers from long passes and also from corners. Looks an intelligent player who is good with both his head and his feet. He continuously brought others into the game, perhaps needs to be a little more selfish and have a go a bit more often although I suspect he was just trying to be accepted with his team mates and will become more selfish in front of goal when it really matters.
Subs:
Lewis same as Gally not much to do other than one point blank late on in second half.
Smart looks like he might be ok in the future needs to bulk up a bit though
Rossi Jarvis had a good half in the middle of the park come on for Brellier at half time didn’t really stand out for any good or bad reasons.
Kelly came on for about 10 minutes at the end for cavey did ok not much time to form much of an opinion either way.
Lathrope, took his goal well other than that again not much time to form an opinion
Hucks was there and was walking round the edge of the pitch with a cup of tea at the start of the second half, so I said to him while he was signing someones shirt
“did you get told off for talking to the press Hucks”?
he replied “did I ever” with a cheeky grin, so I then said “Is Bowyer coming”? and he said “What on 70 grand a week”? and carried on walking and signing!
All in all a good night weather was nice, not a bad turn out plenty of Norwich fans.
