bad planning to leave the signing of Ashton's replacement

to the last day of the transfer window. I would have avoided that as you leave yourself in a terrible negotiating position.

Furthermore given that Earnshaw was keen to leave WBA, it is pathetic to set the buy out clause so low. At the time we signed him the fee we were commited to pay WBA was £2.75m plus £750k add ons. We may have paid £3.25m to date, add on agents fees and we probably have made nothing and Earnshaw has benefitted from reserecting his career! Again terrible negotiation.
