I suspect that Irans attitude towards the USA is due to previous US meddling

in Iran which resulted in the Shah being placed on the throne at the expense of a democratic government.

As for Iran, I still think the majority of the population, who are young and pro western will one day get so fed up with the "conservative" rulers of their country that they will over throw them by revolution.
