but I'd be tempted to give Hughes a go as the attacking midfielder. As I understand it, it was the role he was successful in at Reading, whereas we have used him either as "Gary Holt" or at full-back or out wide. The one time I can recall us using him in an advanced role was at Leeds two years ago - and he was devastating. In that position his inability to produce long passes, and his catastrophic crossing would be less significant.
