I think it's that he started to look quite good at the end of last season...

And Grant obviously rates him and he was considered a big part of the plans this season.

And then of course there is the buy out clause so it looks like he's been sold from under our feet. Especially after the 'we now don't have to sell any players this summer' when the Turner's turned up
