if players WANT to leave you are pretty kuch stuffed anyway. It isn't like 50 years ago when they were like slaves with a minimum wage and little say in where or when they left.

Now if a player wants to leave you pretty much have to let them. So it is just a question of how much you get for them. In this case the clause ensured we got a big profit (until yesterday I have pretty much never heard a soul on here suggest he was worth even than this amount, let alone more), and it is hard to see how we could have done much better.
