he is an old-style entertainer

and one of the last of a dying breed. He's great fun to watch and without doubt the 2003/4 miracle wouldn't have happened without him.

From a footballing point of view I think he's been almost as much a liability as an asset in the seasons since then (of course that still makes him better than most of his teammates over that period!).

He does have an irritating tendency to criticise others in public though, especially as he never seems to criticise himself. Like most footballers I wish I never heard his thoughts. Stick to playing.
