Bin Laden's stated aims are three fold (if I recall correctly):
- to rid Saudi Arabia (where he was born and most of the 9/11 terrorists were from by the way) of the Saud royal family
- to rid Islamic lands (according to his definition) of infidels (according to his definition)
- to return Palestine to the Palestinians (although, like Saddam, I don't think he really gives a s**t about the Palestinians

The US was attacked first because of it's involvement in all of the above; the UK, Spain, Italy & Denmark became targets when we & they joined in with Bush's crusade in Afghanistan and then in Iraq.

As Robert Fisk wrote in the Independent (User Posted Link 'Just before the U.S. presidential elections, bin Laden asked: "Why do we not attack Sweden?"'
