Depends how good the source was too

As I understand it, Apple provide the record companies with ripping software and the record company returns the ripped tracks. It might be that the source is a master or a CD. Or it might be any old rubbish they have to hand... Least with a CD you can take it back.

People: if you want poor quality music - steal it! Then buy the stuff you like
