it comes down to a simple (in theory, not necessarily to answer) question though...

which is likely to prove the biggest benefit to the club's prospects of success:

1. Earnie; or
2. the players that you could get with the proceeds from selling Earnie.

If you think the answer is 2. then you are better off selling, even if you don't need to. That question even applies for most rich clubs.
