The problem is not having a smaller squad per se

It is inevitable that at Championship level we will have to have a smaller squad and Worthy is quite right to ditch a number of the peripheral players in ordre to trim the wage bill.

The problem however is that we have a surplus in some positions yet a real shortage in others. For example we have 4 goalkeepers and masses of strikers yet only one player in the whol first team squad who can play right back and only 3 proper midfielders. That is where Worthy is in real danger of getting things wrong if he doesn't have signings lined up!
