generally seem to be the ones with a lot of money, such as relegated teams and Preston (spending the Nugent money already?) who can afford to go straight in with a high bid and complete a deal.

We aren't flush with cash so we have to be more careful how much we spend on any given player.

That's an economic fact of life, howvever much we'd like it to be otherwise.

The year we were champions we hardly spent anything before the season started because we kept being outbid for the players we were interested in.

There's a long time to go yet.
