Sorry, I should have pointed out that this is more the opinion of my game-loving friends.

Not a bit gamer myself, but they spend the majority of their spare time on them. Seems the general feeling is that Blu-ray is a bit of a pointless and unneccessary addition to a gaming console for the price they're asking and that XBox has set the standard high - now, I haven't played it lots, but Gears of War looked spectacular. Apparently, PS3 isn't that much of an improvement on this for the price.
