Here we are approaching the middle of June and guess what? yep, you got it, we haven't signed anyone. I used to blame our close season apathy in the transfer market on Worthington but now I think it is because of the inadequacies of the staff who are supposed to make these things happen.
In the past week, two players we have been linked with have signed for other clubs, Woods and Simpson. Now I don't know whether our interest or not but it does indicate other clubs are signing players whilst we flap around achieving very little.
Take Leicester - Allen has barely got his feet under the table there but he is already making signings. The club is always ready with the excuses when it comes to how difficult it is to operate in the transfer market but these are difficulties other clubs don't seem to suffer from to the extent we do.
Remember last Summer when Munby promised that there would be signings? Sure enough, by the start of the season Croft had come flooding through the door. If we get to August this year with just one solitary signing (or less) it will be time to have a complete revamp of the back room staff and bring in someone more effective. I bet Doncaster is already writing his hard luck story/excuses column for the 1 September
edition of the EDP.
