We've all seen it.
A player is sold by his club-invariably, even if he is a good player, messageboards will abound with comments like "...he isn't any good anyway..." and "...I never rated him...", "...good riddance..." etc.
After all, no-one is going to risk saying "...oh no, he was a great player and we've sold him.."!!
All sorts of negative stuff came out when we sold Leon.
Of course, if a player is deemed to be popular and has earnt his chance, the comments are more of the "...thanks and good luck..." variety-such as when Greeno moved on.
But if a player, however good, is deemed to have done wrong-Ashton? Then its more of the former stuff plus anything anf anything else negative, no-one wants to show any sign of upset to watching fans of the buying club!
If the Hearts fans think we might pip them to Rae's signature, same thing-the old "...well, we didn't really want him..." mentality all over again.
And, if we get him, as with anyone, lets reserve judgement until he's played a good few games rather than worrying that he isn't good enough already! My mate Jon, a Portsmouth fan laughed in my face when we signed Crouch on loan, said we were the biggest fools on earth, waste of money, he'd been utter crap there etc etc-he isn't laughing now!
