we need a good target man BADLY

will never make an impact in this league without one.

This is especially true while we have Hucks. I think we seem to have decided that the best way to accommodate Hucks is the 4-3-3 thing with one central striker and two wide forwards either side. That will only work well if the central striker is a big f****r who can hold the ball up and give the wide men/CMs time to support him (see Drogba at Chelsea). Also a 4-3-3 means you are often outnumbered in midfield, making it hard to pass the ball through that area and meaning it will inevtiably lead to a lot of long balls (again, see Chelsea). Earnie will never be able to play that role well enough. Even if we play Hucks as an out-and-out striker it will suit him far more playing alongside a Iwan type rather than Earnie. Playing Earnie plus another out-and-out striker plus Hucks is defensive suicide and shouldn't even be contemplated (except maybe for the odd home game against REALLY s**te opposition)
