You should all use our system....

you buy a strippenkaart - a card with either 15 or 49 strips on it, and then punch off 1 strip per zone your journey will take you either before you enter the bus / tram, in the machines in the bus/tram, or by the driver.

You can buy a ticket on the bus/tram but the price is almost double. The strippenkaarts can be bought at most shops and at ticket offices.

OK, you still sometimes have to rely on the driver but in general only 1 person every 2 stops will bother him*.

Once in a blue moon, inspectors raid the bus / tram in a similar manner to US SWAT teams going in to get a major Colombian drug lord.

*this is mostly because most kids, students and general bad eggs rarely pay and just risk the fines.
