So what? The rules are that you don't have to have a general election if the party leader stands down, dies or is exposed as a chronic masturbator. You just get a new PM (if he has the support of the MPs of the majority party) and he takes his chances at the next election. Perfectly sensible way to do it. There are othe ways which are also senisble, but that's the one we've gone for.
