DJ Campbell had just signed for Birmingham, having played well for Brentford and scored against Sunderland to knock them out of the FA Cup. The fee was undisclosed, but around £75000. I think there was a fear that they could lose out on a non-league gem, and the fee was hardly a risk.
I last saw Tresor Kandol play, when he was at Purfleet (Ryman Prem). They were playing against Wealdstone, who Jermaine used to play for, in the FA Trophy. Kandol looked a useful player then, but this was against a team 5 divisons lower than Leeds.
I understand that when Kandol was at Luton, he had a number of "off the field personal problems" which caused his contract not to be renewed or teminated.
