It was ever thus, Steve: agents in all forms are scum of the earth.

The only decent ones I've found were in Switzerland (where I suspect they are heavily regulated). All other agents have one and only one goal: commission.

Because I have the words SQL, Oracle and Sybase in my CV's skills list, I regularly get sent DBA jobs (even for non-Sybase/Oracle) although my CV clearly states that I'm a DB programmer. Basically, they just search their DB for keywords and send out form emails to those that pop up. I used to reply that the job doesn't match my skills or my interests, but it's rare that I got a response; so I just ignore them now.
