I found it a splendid dramatic moment, actually

The turning of the tables. Steven taunts pants for 2 years about not having been to games, and then LO! pants legitimately taunts him back. It's like when Harrison Ford pulls a pistol and shoots the sabre-wielder in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Or when the homosexual rapists in Pulp Fiction find that Bruce Willis is there with a Samurai sword. It's a wonderful turning of the tables, real Shakespeare.
