...but then there was 'no chance' Millwall would get to the FA Cup final in '03/'04. Not quite the same I know, but if the place had have been available then would you really have been happy that Millwall were just ninety minutes away from Champions League football / money?!

Keep Europe's top competition qualification criteria as is (through the top-flights), let the others into the UEFA Cup, but get rid of the stupid mini-league system they've introduced.

Shame they got rid of the Cup Winner's Cup, that was a decent little competition for fans to experience Europe and a different competition - but then there was little money in it, so the club's weren't interested.
