The signing of Doherty - anyone who had seen him play said he was an error - prone donkey and that's exactly what we got. There was uproar when Eddy (unlike Hughes) wasn't offered better terms - no hindsight there - although it's fair to say that probably no-one thought it was so bad that in the two years following his departure we would try no less than seven players in that position without any obvious success.
MUnby himself said that most Championship transfers don't work, yet inexplicably our board followed a policy of dismantling a successful side and replacing it with a load of rubbish. They actually knew at the time that this policy was doomed to fail yet they followed it anyway.
