The poor loves were lacking confidence (against Andorra FFS) and they put 11 men behind the ball (well duh, Hello Steven, anyone at home).
I beginning to think that this lack of management material at international level is a vicious circle with the lack of basic skills in most top level players in the English leagues. These manager were once limited players with no concept of basic techniques of movement off the ball, ball retention and tactical awareness. So what can these coaches teach players but the old tricks that they learnt.
We need young coaches with fresh ideas but the chances at the highest level are limited because more experienced foreign coaches are being brought in because of the need for a success yesterday.
So until the basics change we are stuck with Steve and many Steve-alikes to come until we change the system or find a decent foreign coach (oh yes we did that and the press hounded him out of the job)
