Enough people get swayed by the media, and enjoy 'supporting' the big clubs from home to take on the expensive subscriptions.
However once the real fans of the other clubs start to get bored with the lack of competition (which is clearly happening) they start to stay away.
TV revenue still their from the armchair fans, but their enjoyment will start to erode when the real people stop going.
Less fans in ground means less atmosphere, which lessens the enjoyment of watching.
Also players do thrive on the atmosphere, and more and more games in half full stadiums will affect the quality of the games.
When that happens, TV interest starts to die, TV deals become less, and those spending the money become royally f**ked. Its a short to mid term plan at best.
Long term it is (IMHO) simply unsustainable.
