Maybe but that's a choice between...

someone who was tried and failed and someone who was untried. Not an easy choice and I approve his option of taking the more positive, brave option. Defoe has pretty much always looked rubbish for England (and doesn't even start often for Spurs) so I doubt we missed him at all.
