If you somehow make a tie that is pinhead-proof, teenage children will simply find other ways to hurt each other.
Put differently, you won't solve the problem of teenage children beating each other up by changing what they wear. You need to change their attitudes and inculcate an appreciation of why physical violence is bad together with genuine respect for other people.
Or rather their parents do, since teachers can hardly be expected to do all that to a large class of hormonal youngsters while drumming subject material into their heads...
