When I wrote it I didn't realise it would be so close to the truth:
Steve in Holland calls for clean slate
By CITIZEN JOURNO
Steve in Holland has called on tactically inept Norwich City to wipe the slate clean for the new season.
Last season's disappointing campaign was punctuated by some of the fiercest criticism of supporters during manager Nigel Worthington five-and-a-half-year reign, and some public criticism of fans after some Norwich City games.
But Holland insists that the disappointment of last season must be put to the back of everyone's minds.
“It doesn't help us, but I understand why they did it,” said the City keyboard warrior. “It's because they didn't do what they were supposed to do last year, and needed someone to blame.
“This year it is a fresh start and they have got to see from kick-off how they go from there. If it carries over from last season it is not going to help anybody because it is going to make fans nervous and make everyone edgy, so hopefully, they can start afresh and go from there.
“Last year has gone, we can't look at that - they should bloody well learn from it, but it is not anything you want to dwell on. Unless you're an Ipswich fan.
“Obviously it didn't go well for anyone, but let's hope that's history now and that we have something to look forward to this season. They have pre-season now and it is a time when they can work things out. They have a new coach coming in who is not going to bring any new ideas to the set-up so it gives him a good chance to get to know the lads and the set-up and put his hoofing theories into practice.”
It's going to be a big season for the 34-year-old and soon-to-be wife Martine, who are expecting Norwich's first away loss at the start of August.
“I'm getting as much rest in as I can now before the sleepless nights start,” laughed Holland.
