Mario Tennis is superb...

...brilliant in multiplayer. Wave Race is worth picking up too, once you get into it it just feels right the way they've got the water mechanics working. 1080's not as good as the N64 version.

Best sports game on GameCube in my opinion is NHL Hitz (either version), should be able to get 20-02 for less than a fiver pre-owned in Gamestation I'd have thought - the commentary in the game's the most natural I've heard. UEFA Champions League 05/06 (I think that's the year) is worth a look too, features City in it (although it's an all yellow kit again a la FIFA 2006).

For 'weird' titles, Donkey Konga 1 or 2's worth picking up if you can find it anywhere, although you'll need a couple of sets of bongos to make it worthwhile. Once you've got the bongos you may aswell go for Jungle Beat, as it's the only other game that uses them!
