think those intentions were ended when Hitler invaded Russia in 1941 (that decision being, in my opinion, the single largest reason why we are not all speaking German).

Can't imagine Stalin settling for anything else than destruction of the Nazis after that.

It would have been really hard to have brokered a truce after Stalingrad!
