Grant vs Davies - Old Firm?

Just wondered if anyone can tell me: did Peter Grant and Billy Davies ever face up against one another in an old firm Glasgow derby (1982-84 era)?
I think the outcome of the NCFC v Derby game will depend on the tactical battle of managers' wits as much as on the players. Derby are a resilient and well-balanced side, but they're not brilliant. Watch out for Giles Barnes, who is a talent.
