FAO my less-than-adoring public

Incidentally, I am aware of the entirely justified criticisms of my writing which were on here yesterday. To be honest, it's all a matter of confidence: the more confident and experienced I become, the punchier and more to the point my writing should get.

One thing though: the 'say what you're going to say, say it, say what you've just said' rule is perfectly fine; but it doesn't allow for the different styles people are bound to have. Plus, much of what we see in the press nowadays is, in my humble opinion, formulaic crap. Doubtless, much of my writing is crap - and formulaic in a way (ie. MY formula) too - equally though, if we're all just expected to follow the same rules, surely all that results is the same old rubbish?

Bear in mind too that I'm not necessarily heading down a newspaper hack kind of route. I just can't see myself on a paper: trying to break through via a book is far more likely (albeit a lot more risky too - but ah well). Boardroom intrigue's my kind of thing - the analysis of which hardly lends itself to short newspaper pieces.

So we'll see: in the meantime though, thanks for all the feedback (and I especially include the criticism too: really, I mean that), and hopefully things will improve with time. Hope you enjoy my latest offerings - and OTBC!
