Pisses me off when people harp on about how footballers et al are "role models" and that they have to "set a good example" as "kids look up to them".
Bollocks!
People don't need to 'look up' to someone else imitate/ape their actions to define how they are going to behave-thats got a lot more to do than what a footballer/musician/whatever gets up to.
It also seems to provide an excuse-when a kid gets into trouble, there is always the "well, look at the example such-and-such set" brigade as if it was his or her fault!
They are professional sportsmen. Yes, overpaid. Yes, in the public eye far too much. And yes, some of them have their irresponsible moments-but they are not role models, should not be defined as such, nor feel that this is a thing they have to live up to.
