Laguna? new? (intake of breath)

My father had a laguna (not estate) for 5 years doing 140K (got rid of at x-mas) and it was plagued with problems. The engine is fine but that was a bout it. The electrics on the car were awful and as the french pack it with computers you would hope they worked. The climate control broke, the little moniter for it broke and they wanted nearly 600 to replace and fix it. The suspension went, front and back, twice, windscreen wiper motors went, washer jets, lights (frequently), ignition coils (all the time, the aa carry renault ignition coils in their vans because they go so often) basically anything electric went.
On the up side, they are quite a smooth, quiet ride, you'd need a reletively large engine as it's heavy and with a small engine you'd be outrun by the doc!
